Why buy a G Adventures trip from Estravel?

What is G Adventures?

G Adventures is a tourism company founded in Canada in 1999. From a small company, it has grown into an internationally recognized adventure travel organizer, awarded the title of Best Adventure Travel Company by National Geographic magazine.

The word “adventure” can sometimes be intimidating, as if it involves something very extreme. However, G Adventures explains that “soft adventure” simply means a different kind of trip compared to traveling in a large group to see tourist attractions.

Find the perfect trip for you!

G Adventures trips are known for small groups, international companions, and plenty of opportunities to explore local culture, nature, and lifestyle. “We love changing people’s lives,” they say about their essence and approach to work. “Traveling with us is the best way to experience the world and its authenticity.”

G Adventures also promotes environmental sustainability and community well-being. Their goal is to support local people and businesses through tourism, ensuring that every traveler feels their contribution is significant.

  • Groups consist of 10-15 people, and travel companions from around the world are a value in themselves.
  • The itinerary focuses on getting to know the destination country in a new, usually much more realistic light than what is typically shown to tourists.
  • There are many interactions with local life, offering a great chance to discover something new and broaden your horizons.
  • Excellent group leaders who always speak the local language and guides who have undergone special training.
  • Often, local transportation is used, and accommodations are in simple but clean and decent guesthouses.
  • It’s like an organized backpacking trip – you experience a lot of authenticity but save time and nerves (possibly also money) because life is much easier with an experienced guide.
  • In addition to all the extraordinary and rare experiences, famous sights and natural wonders are not missed.
  • By traveling with G Adventures, you contribute to making the world a better place, as you support local communities.
  • And let’s not forget that you gain an unforgettable travel experience and a positive addiction to experiencing and learning something new again.

What type of traveler are you?

G Adventures has made life easy by categorizing all their programs by travel type and service level. These are combined, for example, youth trips have a Basic service level, most trips have a Standard level, and more expensive trips (The Geluxe Collection and The Jane Goodall Collection) have an Upgraded service level.

You can choose between different types of trips:

Classic Tours

Visiting major attractions while experiencing local life and culture, with a touch of spontaneity. Accommodations are usually in small hotels, guesthouses, and lodges. The travel motto: no two days are the same.

National Geographic Journeys

Trips that delve deep and explore the world with a sharp eye. Accommodations often emphasize historical locations or views; the package includes more meals, ranging from home-cooked to fine dining.

National Geographic Family Journeys

Gather the family, grab your passports, and embark on an unforgettable adventure with National Geographic family trips!

Active Tours

This type of trip always involves some physical activity, such as cycling, hiking, rafting, etc. You become your own local transport. Participants should be reasonably fit but not in peak condition. Suitable for anyone who enjoys fitness and loves to move. Examples of such trips include the Inca Trail trek, Kilimanjaro hike, Costa Rica surf trip, and more.

Marine Tours

Some of the most exciting places are best explored by sea. Boat trips are equally suitable for experienced cruise fans and sailors, as well as those stepping on a ship for the first time. Are you interested in a nature trip to the Galápagos, a polar expedition, or sailing in Thailand, the Maldives, or Europe? A big advantage of a sea voyage is that your hotel room moves with you – you only need to unpack once, but the view changes every day.

Rail

Trains connected major cities and remote areas long before airplanes gave us wings. Come rediscover this somewhat forgotten mode of travel, which allows you to thoroughly see the land you are traveling through. G Adventures trips offer moving pictures in the Alps, Himalayas, and Siberia.

Local Living Tours

This trip is suitable for those who want to experience local life in a very authentic way. Your home could be a Tuscan vineyard, a hut in the Amazon jungle, a Maasai campsite, or a Mongolian yurt.

Family Tours

Having children doesn’t stop life! These trips, as the name suggests, are well-suited for traveling with children. The itinerary is designed to avoid long distances and ensure child-friendly accommodations. At the same time, it is still an adventure trip. These trips are allowed for children from the age of 5. Traveling develops and teaches you, no matter how old you are.

18-to-Thirtysomething

A type of trip for 18-39-year-olds, with the motto You Only Live Once. Maximum fun at minimal cost: affordable accommodation, night buses, fewer pre-arranged meals. Generally longer and (even) more flexible programs than other G Adventures trips.

Wellness Tours

Discover exciting destinations with activities like yoga and meditation, and healthy food experiences that recharge the body and nourish the soul.

Solo-ish Adventures

These trips are designed for solo travelers who want to travel alone but not be alone. They are intended for travelers aged 18 and older and offer the opportunity to form close bonds with other travelers.

The Geluxe Collection

Includes 54 expertly curated trips to 26 destinations.

Roamies by Hostelworld + G Adventures

Trips are designed for travelers aged 18-35 who want to explore iconic destinations and stay in the world’s best hostels. These small group trips offer deeply engaging experiences, combining adventure with the charm of hostels.

Private travel

While group travel is generally a great way to explore the world with people you wouldn’t otherwise meet, some experiences are best enjoyed with your chosen close-knit group. For groups of four or more, there are two options:

  1. Choose from hundreds of G Adventures trip programs, or
  2. Create a personalized program based on an existing itinerary, adding activities or more comfortable accommodations as desired. An experienced group leader ensures everything goes smoothly.
The Jane Goodall Collection

A travel category focused on nature and wildlife. These trips are endorsed by world-renowned primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall. The trips bring you close to the world’s animals while respecting their freedom and habitats.

G Adventures trips have three service levels:

Basic

These trips have very simple conditions. Accommodation is in small local hotels and guesthouses, and local transport is frequently used. The itinerary is very flexible, with plenty of freedom for self-exploration. Ideal for young, adventurous travelers who prioritize experience and adventure over comfort. Examples include “Roamies by Hostelworld + G Adventures” and “18-to-Thirtysomethings Tours.”

Standard

These trips strike a balance between comfort and affordability. Ideal for most travelers.

Upgraded

These trips offer a higher level of comfort while still being affordable. Ideal for most travelers.

G Adventures tours generally start from the capital or a major city. Often, the travel group gathers a day or two before the official program begins to explore on their own and acclimate to the climate. On the evening of the first day of the itinerary, there is a meeting at the hotel where everyone gets acquainted, and the group leader explains what to expect and provides instructions. The departure is on the morning of the second day.

During a trip, various modes of transportation are used (chartered bus, local transport, boat, canoe, truck, etc.).

Accommodation is also very diverse: small hotels, guesthouses, homestays, and even campsites (with outdoor toilets and washing facilities). The type of accommodation or service level is always specified in the trip descriptions, but not the exact location and name. This often depends on the travel dates, group size, season, etc. However, G Adventures constantly checks all accommodations to ensure they are always decent and clean.

Food is always part of the great adventure, as group leaders ensure authentic culinary experiences. To allow everyone to try as much variety as possible and what they crave, meals are often not included in the price of G Adventures trips. It’s also important that no one is obliged to eat with the group. For example, couples can go for a romantic dinner separately or walk around on their own – this is free time.

Trip Difficulty Levels

The physical grading gives an idea of how much physical effort a particular trip requires. Most itineraries are suitable for people with average physical fitness, but some special trips (like trekking in the Himalayas or cycling through Vietnam) require prior training.

1/5 = Easy. These trips are relaxing. No physical effort is needed unless you choose to exert yourself.

2/5 = Light. The trip includes some easy physical activities. No physical preparation is necessary.

3/5 = Average. This trip will get your heart rate up. It includes moderate physical activities and requires good physical fitness.

4/5 = Demanding. Be prepared for serious physical activity. The better shape you’re in, the more you’ll enjoy it, as most activities are challenging.

5/5 = Challenging. The highest physical grading. Prepare for an adventure that will get your heart racing and includes many challenges and extreme conditions. Very good physical fitness is required.
